I guess I'm generally a 'glass half full' kind of person - but I'm hardly going to say I'm depressed and negative... I've done the Surrey housewife bit, so can rustle up a decent dinner for a dozen, particularly if the guests are as positive and non judgemental as me... I'm happy to party and chat all evening, but equally content holed up at home writing all day, or going for a trek or a run across the hills with my dog. I've lived in London and the country and have loved both. I'm obviously happy to indulge in a bottle of Veuve and boutique hotels, but equally content to quaff a vin de table or an indifferent glass of house in a country pub. And camping - particularly camping in the wild, as long as we've got some vittles. I love skiing and the theatre and travel, but am just as comfortable curled up on the sofa with a bar of chocolate and a film or a good book...
I have an MA and a PhD, and I write and lecture, but am self employed so can be fairly flexible with my working hours and would like to find someone to share my spare time with. I was divorced five years ago (after a twenty five years marriage) and am looking for friendship first, then see what happens. My debut book has recently been published, my children have gone off to university and I'm ready to start a New Chapter...

Presumably what most people are looking for: someone with integrity, who is kind, intelligent, funny, tolerant, active, positive, attractive and vaguely sane.
Ideally someone who has similar interests to me, and would enjoy the occasional wine-fuelled nights out in town or in the local, walks in the countryside (with a pub at the end), the theatre, a trip to the movies, live music once in a while, travel, and who'd maybe join me on my morning run, and who'd hopefully come skiing with me. And someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously.
