My daughter says: I am caring, sensitive, intellectual, fun to be with and.......crap at DIY!
Love city breaks and travel but the countryside, green and open spaces, is where my home has to be. Passionate about nature and animals - I have never been without a furry best friend of one kind or another. For me a family is not complete without one.
Love learning - just throughliving life; I know I have an enquiring and inquisitive mind - which can at times be annoying! Walking; theatre; fine wine and dining; history; debating; being outdoors; genuine people; home life - spending time with people I really care about; all sports but especially rugby, equestrian, rowing. Playing games and cards - I confess to being a bit competitive! These are a few of the things I love to do.
And of course music - all types, classical to modern day. I can't read it, or play it, but without it my world goes grey.
Well brought up, knows how to keep up appearances but with no airs and graces. Scrubs up well, and loves to when the occasion demands it, but no make-up and wellies is home and relaxation for me.
An optimistic realist who can find the funny side to almost every situation - nonetheless compassionate, empathetic and easily moved to tears by the unwelcome life events of those I know and those I don't.
Tenacious and driven. I love my work and more than willingly give it 100%. The diversity, challenges, learning, improving myself - everything about it; but it is readily left behind for friends and family.
So there you have it. Independence and helplessness all in one - but then I am a woman! Nonetheless a rock for those I hold dear - and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Honest, open, caring, well-grounded and fun. A man who loves his woman whether she is immaculately dressed or in wellies with her hair on end.
Someone who doesn't take himself too seriously, can laugh at himself with others but nonetheless cares deeply about people and things, has values and principles and will stand by them. A man who has a handful of close friends; and yet is a people person who is happy spending time with people from all backgrounds; sees people for who, not what, they are.
Someone who is happy to adopt a dog - with love, not forbearance. This would be reciprocated in full if you too have some four legged baggage!
And family - family has to be important to you without being omnipresent and exclusive - because mine will be - warts and all!
What won't work? Well I don't mind if you play golf but please don't ask me to. I am more than happy to caddy for you but putting a club in my hands is really not a good idea! Sailing is also not high on my list of things to do so salty dogs and I are probably not compatible.
For me it has to be someone who:
finds a holiday riding the Inca Trail infinitely more attractive than lying on a beach in Marbella;
I can go to rugby matches with even if we don't support the same side;
wants to do things together to share the experience rather than because he feels he has to;
and will partner me in canasta, bridge or whist without throwing his toys out of his pram!
So that's all I am looking for - someone to sing with - metaphorically or even literally speaking.
