About him
I would like to think that my friends believe that I am an honest individual who support my belief that where possible everyone should make a contribution to the community in which they live. For my part I have been a volunteer driver for nine years taking those without transport to medical appointments, shopping and visiting friends.
I have been passionate about theatre for as long as I can remember going back to the age of 10. The sheer spectacle I find totally absorbing. As a young man, I performed roles, did a lot of back stage work and for a period of some 25 years starting in 1979, produced and directed eleven children's musicals with casts of up to 50, about ten concerts and even wrote a review and couple of plays.
Whilst I still enjoy going to the theatre, my active interest in 'getting involved' has declined and I am now getting more and more involved in charities that supports lonely and vulnerable individuals. I have been a Chair of the Trustees for two and a half years for such a charity.
The joy of listening to music is difficult to beat, the melody, the harmony, the rhythm and the orchestration or arrangement is pure joy. Although, I do not play an instrument, I acquired a magical item of software which allows me to write and playback music I have written. Of course, the playback is not like the real thing as it lacks empathy and interpretation - but is enough to appreciate my modest efforts.
I know a bit about computers, after all I worked in the IT industry up to the mid 90's. But then it all changed and I enjoy the challenge of trying to keep up!
I enjoy reading, strolling in the countryside, visiting places of historical interest but I have to say I have little interest in sport.
My outlook on life is pretty basic - keep it simple and enjoy life as you don't know when it will end.

About his ideal match
I am seeking the friendship of someone who would enjoy my interests but who has interests of their own and to which I may be introduced. Honesty is important to me as it should be to anyone I meet. They should not be afraid to voice their views on any subject as I am quite happy to engage in discussion. After all, we humans should be talking rather than emailing or texting when we are in close proximity together.
I live on my own and enjoy cooking which I would hope my new friend would share as an activity we could do together. I like my garden which has a wide mix of plants although I know very little about them individually and frequently seek advice from friends. I like to think that I have developed my garden from what can only be described as a 'bit of a dump' into something very much better - but then others may differ. So, any contribution or comment you may make would be most welcome.
If you are an avid follower of sport, then, with respect, may I suggest you move on?
I have said that I am seeking friendship but I would hope that it would develop into something closer whilst still living separately. How the relationship develops after that would be up to both of us to decide - I would not want to be or place a new friend under pressure.
