In Her Own Words

About her

I enjoy the company of my friends and I think they'd describe me as caring, intelligent, humorous, reliable - and good at making fruit cakes! I am interested in other people but I tend to avoid large social groups.

It's over three years since I lost my husband, very suddenly, and I miss the day-to-day companionship. We'd been married over 43 years.

Photography, which has been an interest since my childhood, my dog and walking, listening to music, reading, using my computer for photo editing, emailing, making cards and calendars, etc., are among the things that occupy me currently. Words interest me and I'd enjoy more conversation and the sharing of ideas and experiences. My brain likes to be exercised!

Last year I bought a very small caravan and I've started to travel
to photograph panoramas of English cathedrals, having learned the techniques from a friend.

In November I made another life change and moved to the NE, away from the Lake District.

I dress for comfort rather than style - happy in wellies and sandals (depending on the weather!) and usually wearing simple jumpers/tee shirts and trousers. But then I rarely go anywhere which requires more sartorial elegance.

Until I retired eight years ago, I was involved in training teachers to tutor dyslexic pupils, having taught special needs pupils for most of my working life.

Although I do love plants and flowers and the great outdoors, I'm a gardener by necessity only; I prefer photographing the flowers to weeding!

Edgar, my lively Springer Spaniel, is an essential part of the package; he is fairly well-behaved and likes both people and other dogs.

About her ideal match

He must be literate and intellectually stimulating. He needs to have a sense of the ridiculous, respect my foibles as well appreciating my strengths and be an honest, caring, contented and reliable person who understands give and take. I'd like the companionship of being able to share the respective happenings of our days. He should have interests we can share as well as ones we can follow individually with one another's support. He should be comfortable with physical affection - hugging and hand-holding.

N.B. Please pass me by if you're a smoker.
