I have a passion for discovery and the great outdoors, and am known for my sense of humour, being a freelance caricaturist. I am also a geographer working digital mapping contracts for councils. Socially I enjoy barbecues, long hikes, cycling, and pubs serving hearty ales. I do not like sport or nightclubbing and am left feeling quite isolated by the prevailing shallow materialism in modern culture - hence the title of this profile!. I also enjoy winemaking and vegetable gardening and can be found foraging for berries to brew with in August.
I have a keen interest in all things scientific and advocate greater scientific literacy as we struggle to build a better and more sustainable world. I am currently developing a pet project to provide regions with a practical way to tackle climate change.
I am divorced, and have one son who is reaching an age of increasing independence. I've been living back at my Mother's home since divorcing, and am looking to move out if I can find a partner to share the burden.

I'd like to meet a lady who is intelligent, witty, and who like me is a life long non-smoker, is non-materialistic and shares my values. I've always been physically attracted to a girl who is tall and shapely with plenty of hair. She should be ethically driven towards the vision of a more sustainable world - but not to the point of holding rigid left wing/new age views such as militant veganism. I'd still like to have another child (I have an 11 year old son who lives with his mother) and to play an active role in their upbringing.
