I am educated, intelligent and articulate. I'm good conversationalist and a good listener. I am affectionate, sensitive and gentle. I live alone and although I have frequent contact with friends, children and grandchildren who give me a lot of affection, I miss having a special person to care about.
I am a retired psychologist/university teacher. I have worked overseas in various African and Middle East countries.
My interests include classical music (in particular Bach and other Baroque composers), literature, theatre, cinema, politics and world affairs. I'm a cricket fan and I have a hobby of wood turning. I garden and cook. Add to that an interest in science and technology, psychology (my ex-profession), geology, archaeology, and history. I read avidly on any topic from palaeontology to politics.
I enjoy concerts, theatre and cinema, art galleries, sightseeing, a stroll in the park, a good meal, and a stimulating conversation.
I like to travel, especially to warm climates in order to escape the worst of the British winter. My favourite destination is Cape Town.
I am contemplative by nature and on a good day and can sit in the garden watching the birds and the flowers grow in perfect contentment. I am fascinated by the concept of the infinite universe - and the decidedly finite lives we live in it.
I am told by trusted friends that I look and behave like a younger man than I actually am, I feel young, spry and moderately fit; ready for new love and adventure. Although I am in my seventies, I tend to get on best with women in their fifties and sixties.
