I'm not sure about using this service but on the other hand, let's give it a trial.
My friends would say I am a good listener and a sympathetic one. Somebody who is really caring but rather shy (even at my age!). I have an inquisitive mind and learning something new is always interesting.
I spent many years teaching at universities, but that's now in the past. I also worked as a consultant in my field of expertise, but being now fully retired, I volunteer at the library (helping people with IT problems) and with a charity that helps people who have been in the Armed Forces.
My true love is rural life and I am so happy living where I do. I love to go for walks and look at nature and how it changes throughout the year (I grew up in the tropics where there are no seasons), I love animals but especially dogs, and I have three large dogs that seem to rule my life. Dislikes? Funnily enough, for somebody who comes from Latin America, I'm not too fond of large parties and even less, dancing. I could never master it.
So this brings us to hobbies? Travelling is not at the top of my priorities. I've been lucky to have travelled to many countries. But I would love to visit so many fascinating, interesting, historical places in this lovely country.
I'm generally an optimistic person. What do I expect from life now? Certainly not what I expected when I was in my early 20's! I might not want to work full time, but keeping busy and working is important. I can't picture myself sitting down in front of a TV all day.

What is an ideal match? I wish I could answer this with certainty! It has got to be somebody who can relate to me, who will be interested on who I am and who will be happy to listen to me as I will to him. More than anything, and as I read in one profile here, he should not try to change me. At this age this is not easily done...
For a relationship (and this can be anything from a friendship to a long-term relationship) to work, it has to be two-sided. Not one of them doing all the giving and the other just taking. This means that it will need some compromises.
Another important thing is to realise that we are all different and nobody will be a replacement for the people who have accompanied us at some times in our lives.
As for activities? Difficult to say (as long as it is not dancing!). Could be going to the cinema, sharing a quiet meal in a restaurant, going for a walk, or.... In general why not see the relationship as an opportunity to expand and enrich ourselves?
