About her
Hi and thank you for logging on!
I'm an "artilady" - to be explained - and I live in the south west of West Sussex. My friends and family would describe me as supportive, caring and competent - good conversationalist and interested in people with a sense of humour ("glass half-full")
My partner, who was an academic at a local university, sadly died of cancer. I am in contact with his children but they all live some way away so contact is irregular.
I worked in a professional capacity and ended up training staff and a managers. I took early retirement after my partner's diagnosis. Now I write and paint for relaxation and enjoy the arts and literature. Solvent but not wealthy.
I am articulate but not extrovert - good listener. I have always liked animals - currently one cat - but very use to dogs and horses.
My interests are the theatre, classical music , modern jazz, literature and antiques. I do belong to a writing and an art group but these only take up a few hours per month.
Holidays are welcome break especially to cultural places in the UK and Europe. I take at least one holiday each year around heritage railways and I am interested in canals and narrow boats. Not particularly sporty although I did ride and sail, but I happily watch cricket and rugby.
I've little interest in politics or religion. However, I do dislike extremism, cruelty and violence on a macro or micro level. Basically, I'm quite "middle of the road". There are friends around, who are important, but nobody special to spend time with or enjoy life.
About her ideal match
Any match would have to be kind and considerate and to enjoy female company. Definitely a non-smoker and to have a good sense of humour, but who takes everything in moderation.
Ideally he would be slightly older or younger than me with a professional background either working or retired. We would have interests in common, possibly introduce each other to new ones but, also, the capacity to follow those that don't fit. Reasonable looks and smartness even when casual would be a plus.
I am not looking to marry or relocate and I would hope we could both value some individual space and not "live in each other's pocket". I feel a relationship should be based on mutual respect and good communication. Therefore, start with a friendship and see how things go!
