About him
Although I am living in "Och-ay Land", after having recently returned from France, where I lived for sixteen years, I am a Sassenach, temporarily based in Elgin, while seeking a change of location. I was formerly a military bandsman, librarian, laboratory technician, banker and teacher. I have now retired, so every day is Sunday! I enjoy a full, active and interesting life, but it is not perfect. It lacks that most important recipe ingredient of happiness - a woman to love and with whom to share it. How can the pudding be perfect if the chef has not added the sugar? I am slim, well-mannered (I learnt "please" and "thank you", aged 2, by having a one-way conversation with my teddy bear), courteous (always roses on Saturdays), considerate (an espresso on awakening to dismiss "Mr Sandman" before facing the day - Mmm!), reliable (card on the bedside table on birthday morning), loyal (I never tell others of your fear of frogs) and understanding (I offer comfort when you drop your freshly-made apple pie), with a pleasant disposition and a dry (5 on the scale 1-5) sense of humour. I am never angry (even when your pet poodle nips me on the ankle), abusive or violent (my rolling pin is used only for pastry), and believe in flattening molehills rather than scaling mountains. I am a gentleman and was educated to treat a lady with all the respect due to her while, at the same time, recognizing the equality of the sexes. I always dress with good taste - my trousers have creases where creases ought to be and my shoes are clean and polished (why did the sergeant demand to see his face in them?). I am rather peculiar inasmuch as I am looking for an old-fashioned relationship, one which is sincere, tender, intimate, passionate and durable.
