In His Own Words

About him

I enjoy hiking, cycling, occasional sketching/painting, writing short stories for comps and screaming at the contestants on Bargain Hunt.
Favourites: vinyl- Freedom is frightening. book- A walk in the woods. cartoon- A grand day out, letter of the alphabet- J. foods- apples.
My Outlook: Fatally addictive, is collecting sweet chestnuts. their brown, shiny shells have an alluring quality that just shouts 'pick me up! pick me up!' with a more potent vigour than Tunisian dates which just plead 'eat me' : which always strikes me as a command rather than an invitation- and is a reason they stay on the supermarket shelves along with the other 199 boxes.
Besides which, dates don't have any mystery about them ( not the ones you eat, anyway). They are all basically one colour and shape ~ cockroach brown in colour and torpedo shaped- and with the stone left in, equally dangerous.
but chestnuts- they can produce fat, flat ( like the penny-shaped toffees wrapped in yellow you find in a box of Q.S. or is it Roses?) round, wrinkly, hard, soft and delicious.
True, dates don't come with the potential hazard of maggots, like what chestnuts do, but they don't bite and are slow moving so can easily be caught and thrown into the garden. killing them would be an abuse of the obvious physical and social superiority that we have over one, so would be pointless: unless we knew for certain that it was a Buddhist and could transcend into its next cycle of life. but we don't know for certain, so leave it alone.
My favourite shape, of all the ones that abound, is the mandolin shaped one, with its deep red belly and deep red colour, it tastes as sweet on the tongue as the mandolin does on the ear. But a word of advice: always be aware of the importance of acknowledging the tree for its bounteous generosity. A simple 'thank you, tree' will go a long way to help produce next years crop. And that goes for apples and walnuts too.
And dates?...oh, I suppose so.

About his ideal match

3/4 sane, good judge of character, perceptive, understanding, patient, intelligent without being clever, and with sense of humour and/or 1st Aid certificate ( as I suffer an age related non-fatal medical condition ~ I can't spell osteoarthritis), spiritual outlook and sense of perspective are more important qualities than looks.
should be interested in walking/chatting in the short term. 'see what happens'/ sustainable relationship in the long term.
