In His Own Words

About him

The Profiler’s Tale.
When April with his showers sweet,
Pierced the drought of March to the root,
Then did my thoughts turn to romance,
For solitude I could no longer countenance,
But months have passed with nothing at all,
So I’ll have to pen some doggerel,
To tell you more about myself,
Or I’ll be left upon the shelf.
But my own trumpet I'll not blow,
And only honesty you'll find below,
So if you're looking for perfection,
Best not look in my direction,
And if you seek an alpha bighead,
I'm pleased to say I'm better bred!
And ne'er upon the corporate ladder,
So unlike most I'll never swagger,
About money, status or important job,
For it counts for little under the sod,
But at least I can with certainty say,
Good natured am I from day to day!
And no baggage have I to weigh me down,
Or give you cause to cast a frown,
And I’m not one for swilling booze,
To those that know me ‘tis not news,
And smoking is something I cannot abide,
A sensible view I shall not hide,
And as for drugs I’m square as they come,
I'll ne'er touch ‘em tho' some call ‘em fun,
And pubs and clubs do not appeal,
This is something I’ll not conceal,
So my pace of life I like it slow,
This is something you ought to know,
Simple pleasures I'm mostly liking,
Cinema, days out and some hiking,
For I am not a lazy slob so fat,
And always upon my sofa sat,
Bobble hat and thermos flask,
That is all that I would ask,
So how about some hill walking,
That’s more like it now we're talking!
But globe trotting like a blue arsed fly,
Is an aspiration that's passed me by,
Tho' I'd be willing to give it a go,
With someone that I'd got to know!

About his ideal match

O, music is my main obsession,
Woe alas 'tis no profession,
But in a string quartet I do play,
Scraping viola in a grade 5 way,
So to classical concerts I’ll go willing,
But Glastonbury I'd find less thrilling!
And what of humour when most say dry,
Well raised on “Carry On’s” was I,
Seaside postcards and banana skins,
Custard pies and passing wind,
These are things I funny find,
Perhaps you think me unrefined?
And of technology I do admit,
A computer owner but that is it,
Smart phones and tablets have not I,
O, how I yearn for years gone by,
When people upon the train would sit,
And through the window looked out of it,
But now alas all seem to be,
Glued to screens two inches by three!
So this is all I’m looking for,
A similar someone to adore!
Alas so many of chemistry speak,
But is this really the thing to seek,
For I remember when at school,
And sat upon my laboratory stool,
Listening to the sound of plopping,
Of potassium into water dropping,
A flash a bang a puff of smoke,
Little was left and nothing of note,
But oxidation takes place slow,
And is a better way to go,
For I'll only get a second date,
If you are prepared to wait,
And let me slowly grow on you,
In the manner a wart would do!
But why no photo I hear the clamour,
Well, plenty do eschew the camera,
It does not mean an ugly face,
Bereft of any pleasing trace,
But photo’s belong on shelf or wall,
Not online to be gawped at by all!
So if you’d like to see yours truly,
I’m more than happy to send one duly,
And if my photo you find pleasing,
Perhaps you'd like to arrange a meeting,
For that is worth a thousand emails,
And far better than collecting pen pals.
O, my tale has nearly almost ended,
I hope my honesty has not offended,
‘Tis nice to think you won't disdain,
So write to me and don’t refrain.
O, here endeth my email,
And here endeth The Profiler’s Tale.
