In His Own Words

About him

The Profiler’s Tale.
When April with his showers sweet,
Pierced the drought of March to the root,
Then did my thoughts turn to romance,
For solitude I could no longer countenance.
But the months have passed with nothing at all,
So I’ll have to pen some doggerel,
To tell you more about myself,
Or I’ll be left upon the shelf,
So first and foremost I will say,
What I’m like from day to day,
Good natured am I and understated,
Qualities not to be underrated,
So my disposition is always good,
And you'll ne'er find me in a mood,
And I’m not one to boast or swagger,
‘Tis not my style or in my manner,
And straightforward and reliable too,
For I do what I say and say what I do,
And no baggage have I to weigh me down,
Or give you cause to cast a frown,
And I’m not one for swilling booze,
To those that know me ‘tis not news,
And smoking is something I cannot abide,
A sensible prejudice I wear with pride,
And as for drugs I’m as square as they come,
I’ll not touch ‘em though some call ‘em fun,
And pubs and clubs do not appeal,
This is something I’ll not conceal,
And as for materialism ‘tis utter rot,
Fie on possession for I care not,
And pace of life I like it slow,
This is something you ought to know,
So simple pleasures I like the most,
Cinema and days out to the coast,
Or perhaps I'd like a city break,
‘Tis but a shame I’ve no one to take,
Or staying in a B&B and hill walking,
That’s more like it now were talking,
So I am not a lazy slob so fat,
And always upon my sofa sat,
For I am fit and more than willing,
To go with you o’er mountains walking,
So let’s visit a castle or National Trust house,
Those that call it boring are usually soused!

About his ideal match

But music is my first obsession,
O, alas ‘tis no profession,
So in amateur orchestra’s I do play,
If you do too ‘twould make my day,
So to classical concerts I’ll go willing,
For the symphony I find so thrilling,
And what of humour when most say dry,
Well raised on “Carry On’s” was I,
Seaside postcards and banana skins,
Custard pies and passing wind,
These are things I funny find,
Perhaps you think me unrefined?
And of technology I do admit,
A computer owner but that is it,
For through their ways I cannot wend,
And dreaded emails I can barely send,
Smart phones and tablets have not I,
O, how I yearn for years gone by,
When people upon the train would sit,
And through the window looked out of it,
At cows in a field and clouds in the sky,
Tis nice to watch the world go by,
But now alas all seem to be,
Glued to screens two inches by three!
So this is all I’m looking for,
A similar someone for love and more.
Alas so many of chemistry speak,
But is this really the thing to seek?
For I remember when at school,
And sat upon my laboratory stool,
Listening to the sound of plopping,
Of potassium into water dropping,
A flash a bang a puff of smoke,
Little was left and nothing of note!
But oxidation takes place slow,
And is the way for love to grow.
But why no photo I hear the clamour,
Well, plenty do eschew the camera!
It does not mean that I’m plug ugly,
In fact I’m told I’m rather comely,
But photo’s belong on shelf or wall,
Not online to be gawped at by all,
So if you’d like to see yours truly,
I’m more than happy to send one duly,
And if my photo you find pleasing,
Perhaps you'd like to arrange a meeting,
For that is worth a thousand emails,
And I've no interest in collecting pen pals,
So I’ll not email fore-ever and a day,
For those that want to are not serious anyway!
O, my tale is almost ended,
I hope my honesty has not offended,
‘Tis nice to think you won't disdain,
So write to me and don’t refrain,
If my tale appeals to you,
And the thought of romance too,
Here endeth my email,
And here endeth The Profiler’s Tale.
