In Her Own Words

About her

Well the first thing you should know about me is that self promotion is NOT my style. So this is toe squirmingly cringeworthy.
But here goes nothing...or possibly everything!

I could be accused of coming over as a little cynical, sarcastic or maybe even flippant. Please don't be fooled! I can be serious when required. It's just my sense of humour.
And I'm really quite practical. I can change a light bulb, pay bills, change a toilet roll, work the TV remote and everything!
But I can't sing.

What makes me laugh?
Me sometimes. General wittiness. Malapropisms. Terrible advertising slogans on the backs of lorries. Overdressed people picking up dog poo. Lee Mack, classic Alan Partridge, Andy Parsons, Milton Jones, The Last Leg, QI, Richard Madeley and local news readers.
Life is funny if you look at it from the right direction.

What do I treasure?
...erm a strong cup of tea in the morning, sunny days in Britain and affection. Oh and a notebook and pen (I'm never without either), my reading glasses (unfortunately), and some silly family heirlooms.

What do I love?
Antiques. Chosen purely for their quirkiness or pointlessness and most definitely not on value. I like to own things I like...not things I SHOULD like. My house is full of oddities that require explanation.
Design of course, in all its forms. It's what I do. It's in the bones..thank goodness. It's also in my house and wardrobe!
Cars - obviously.
Reading, making stuff, travelling, a bit of culture and gardening.
Gardening! I can't quite believe it myself, but 'having to' gradually turned into 'loving to' over the last couple of years. Guilty pleasure maybe.
So variety is what I love I suppose! Doing something different every now and again. Being outside! We get so few lovely days that we should make the most of it. So I get the door propped open and do as many things outside as I can. Before it rains.
Try sticking a pin in a visitor guide or theatre diary and just going...! Found some absolute gems and moments of hilarity this way.

About her ideal match

That's also a very difficult question. Who's to say where love is hiding. So I don't have any particular 'requirements'..that would be awful.
But being practical and knowing myself, what would attract and sustain a relationship for me would be a shared sense of humour, wit, intelligence and some shared interests. Or if not shared..at least respected, tolerated or at worst humoured!
I also promised myself that I would treat myself to someone practical...just a little bit. I am perfectly capable of doing 'jobs' myself, but I just find uselessness unattractive. And if they could cook..wow! At worst I'm only talking about managing beans on toast...at best I'm only talking Jamie Oliver 5 ingredients. It's more to do with the willingness to try than the quality of the food!
I can't bear to be bored. Boredom is my number one hate. So someone who is spontaneous, fun, happy to try things would be excellent!

I really don't like the idea of living a 'virtual' life when there's a real one out there. So Xbox gamers need not apply.

I'd just like someone to bring something new and exciting to the party. I'm not being selfish! I promise to bring something too, and I don't mean the Blue Nun from the back of the cupboard! I want to learn to love new things, new places and new food groups, hopefully with someone lovely who will appreciate me and care for me. And be appreciated and cared for back.
I'd like to be half of a team. Mutual laughing, sniggering, appreciating, watching, thinking.
