In His Own Words

About him

With a deep breath - here we go:

I'm a cyclist, hiker, traveller and a photographer. I have a glass largely half full approach to life unless it's really filthy winter weather on top off a mountain and then have been known to be a little grumpy.

I've always lived next to either rivers, lakes or the sea, and they've all provided soul food for which music and campfires provided the accompaniment for a well balanced diet. I'm been described as warm and friendly, which I've realised makes me sound like a Labrador.

Been told I'm empathetic and a good listener, which I assume is a good thing. I'm a professional with his own teeth, most of his hair and a positive outlook. I’ve lived in rural Wales for the past 14 years, did my time in London and grew up in Scotland, the US and next to the Thames. Now starting all over again in West Sussex.

I'm an enthusiastic photographer and enjoy the cinema, chatting, travel and the theatre. I'm fascinated by wildlife, particularly birds and insects both flying and crawling.

I have a son at school in Horsham. He's the light of my life, and will always be - at least until his hormone's kick in and he starts grunting.

Decided that it's time I kicked off this next stage of my life, and am looking forward to where it takes me and the people I'll meet.

About his ideal match

I'm looking for someone with a dry sense of humour and who can laugh at the drop of a hat. Someone who is kind, likes to be outdoors as much as possible and can actively enjoy walking by the sea in the pouring rain on a November afternoon (though not every day, no one's that daft...)

Someone who would also be content sitting on a sofa and talking about life, the universe and whatever else comes to mind.

Someone who enjoys theatre, ballet, the cinema and, in an ideal world, cycling...

I have learned to enjoy cooking and gardening, and these are also on the list somewhere.

This is my search for the Door into Summer, and I'd really like to meet someone who would like to help both of us find it, for as long or as short as it takes.
