I'm from Ireland, educated in Scotland, have spent most of my life in South Africa, recent years in Europe. I'm now resident in Cape Town.
I keep fit: walking, cycling, running. I read and write a lot, love music - anything from Chopin to Clapton; dogs - huggable size; cooking - so long as it's appreciated; and photography - preferably in some natural green or blue space.
I enjoy many aspects of city life yet I’m a country person at heart, happiest watching waves, a sunset or waiting for something to move in the bush.
I’m resilient and happy with my own company but I value the friends I have in many places. I'm curious and optimistic with more questions than answers. My views are liberal. I love nothing more than good conversation.

I’d like you to be a man with whom I’d enjoy a long distance road trip. You’d be enthusiastic, amiable, competent, interested in places we’d see and the people we’d meet, travelling slowly. You’d have a sense of humour that would stay in place even when things went wrong…especially when things went wrong! We’d have as much fun getting lost as sticking to the plan. It wouldn't be a trip for couch potatoes or package tourists but it would be a wonderful antidote to a pandemic.
