About him
I started working for myself by building a house with no money [very difficult] but with incredible enthusiasm diligence and unwarranted optimism, it surprisingly worked! I have since been through periods of feast and famine, success and failure in equal measures, acquiring land and building many houses, large and small, throughout the Cotswolds.
Overall the banks and the professionals have made more money than I, but it is still an enjoyable job and I am currently slightly ahead of the game.
I am honest, genuine and reliable, but not particularly socially adept.I have a happy disposition, wake every day in a genial mood & during the day sing [very badly] snatches from songs ditties & verse i.e. my solution to avoid talking to myself.
After being together for more than 50 years, it was a huge shock when I lost my wife at the end of 2016. After a long period of adjustment I have moved into a small batchelor pad that I built.
I am fit and well, never ill but do possess a few broken bones [now mended] acquired via the building sites and which do play me up from time to time. I am however experiencing some of the usual problems of old age and although I still have my driving licence I don't drive anymore.
I read a lot,almost entirely fiction, am an expert jigsaw puzzler, an habitual building site seeker. I do not see very much on television that I would be interested to watch so I don't. I am an incurable optimist, my glass is always half full, but not surprisingly I remain incredibly lonely. I have travelled to many countries in the world & my favourite is Austria, but latterly had been trying to find equivalent places in England, so as to avoid the endemic chaos of airports. Whilst I have enjoyed my travels I do not feel any overwhelming desire to keep on dashing to foreign parts when there are so many lovely places that I have not visited in our own countryside.

I would like to meet a lady who I can talk to about anything and everything, our respective work experiences, the current state of our country, politics, travel, self-build housing, world events, how to cook mini masterpieces, and what wine to go best with it, how to keep spiders and dust out of my abode etc..It would be nice to plot lunches out & then days out and the next holiday etc. preferably in this country, not rushing around the world just for the sake of it. But I would certainly enjoy showing my new friend a few Alpine small hotels should the opportunity arise!
