In Her Own Words

About her

None of my other pictures pass muster. Unbelievable! Good thing I dress in that chicken costume every year for the annual chicken race, so this is how some people recognize me. Not to mention the Christmas elf costume that helps me bring the cheer every December. The outfit is so crazy at this point that it looks like Christmas threw up. My little music students love it, although they're a bit confused because I've convinced them that I'm part troll the rest of the time--when I'm not an elf. I show them my wrinkles as proof. I've found that it's much easier to turn into a troll than it is to get older. More fun, too! My little students have explained that many of their parents are also turning into trolls.

Social distancing has meant that my music lessons and writing jobs have moved online. What's missing in the new normal is someone to play music for and with. I do have my kids with me half the time and they're still quite young--seven and nine. They have a good father, so I don't need a man to do that. I hit the jackpot twice when I got my kids and am very proud of the people they're becoming! Otherwise it's just me and my dog, who is a very dramatic and lovable Bassett Hound cross.

I've love to meet someone who is immersed in his community and has a general read of it, although I won't move from the Scottish Highlands until my kids are grown. I come from a big family, most of whom are an ocean away in the States. I loved taking care of them--mainly by cooking--so if you put an apron me, I'm quite content. The feminist in me balks at this, but it's true, so I'm saying it. I also feel comfortable having a man in charge, but perhaps only on a Tuesday afternoon and only for fun. And not all the time--sometimes I might like to be in charge, too.

About her ideal match

I need a guy to play music and games with. Fun ones that we both agree on. Got some Big Bad Wolf in you? Bring it! The human brain is the final frontier, and the landscape of another person's imagination is a fun place to visit. If you have an active fantasy life and can talk about it, that would be amazing.

I would love to be in a relationship where the guy lives close to me but not with me, so we can do romantic things like asking each other out on dates and sleeping over at each other's houses. This way, the magic wouldn't burn out. We'd still be able to play and wouldn't take each other for granted. I know this is an unusual way to imagine a relationship, but life is too short to allow one's partner to become like an old shoe. To allow good sex to become commonplace. You know? Every moment should be savored. Life is supposed to be delicious. It balances out the hard stuff.

I'd like to find a guy who can connect with others easily enough that he knows who needs help. A man I can team up with to offer that help. I'm not in the place where I can start a family with a man anymore, but I love the idea of our taking care of a community together. I will soon have a house with fruit trees in the back--and if I have my way, nobody in my family nor in the surrounding community will ever starve because of those trees. We will have apple festivals with pancakes and cider and lots of laughter.

I'm glad to be alive with or without a partner--but ideally, I'd love to find one. I need a solid, earthy guy who can be an anchor as I move from my heart to take care of those around us, whether at home, at music festivals, or anywhere else we might go.
