About her
Brought up in London, I was educated at a state grammar school. My favourite subjects were French Language and Music and they are still high on my list.
My outlook is optimistic, enthusiastic and determined. I feel (and am told I look) younger than I am. I believe I’m caring, considerate, affectionate and a good listener. I enjoy reading, embroidery, light gardening, walking with friends/family, listening to music (mostly classical (not heavy), some other). I have one son in Devon and a grandson in Sth Somerset, as well as a step family further afield. I see my close family members when I can.
I'm fortunate to have many female friends but having been widowed for 10 years I miss the close companionship of a special man. I am generally fit and exercise regularly. I enjoy driving and value the independence it gives me. When travelling to friends/family in the south of the country it's usually by car.
I enjoy going to concerts with a friend. When able I hope to join a local choir if they'll have me. Since the onset of Covid-19 I've enjoyed taking part in a weekly Zoom choir. Sometimes I visit art galleries/museums and occasionally go to craft exhibitions. I enjoy visiting local village Open Gardens (especially when tea and cake are on offer!). Although I prefer not to walk alone, I regularly do 2+ miles at a time. My trips to garden centres are spent partly trying to resist the tempting plants.
Given time I exercise my brain with quizzes, crosswords (more fun with a friend), Scrabble and Sudoko.
I've never been interested in sailing but it's not too late! I don't have and wouldn't now choose to have a pet. I'm not generally a dog lover, other than a special family one now and then. For two decades I've been pet (one cat) free.
About her ideal match
I’d like to meet someone within my age range and, for practical reasons, within reach geographically. Someone who is well spoken, and has a skill with words, he must be caring, kind, considerate and physically fit. Mutual chemistry and a shared sense of humour are very important. I look forward to doing things together such as meeting with friends/family, walking in fields, woods or on a beach, going to concerts, art galleries and exhibitions, holidays in the UK or abroad. NB I'm not a happy flyer!
Ideally there would also be opportunities to pursue our own interests.
