About him
I like to think I am kind and considerate with an enquiring mind. i retired early from a professional role (but am quite busy as chairman of the flats management company where I live) and am well educated and intelligent. I enjoy holidays, weekends away and cosy nights in, exhibitions and museums (presently a member of the British Library and British Museum), talks, strategy board games, puzzles, dancing (have dabbled in ballroom and Latin American but do more Scottish country dancing), secondhand bookshops, collecting antique maps (bidding at auction can be fun!), reading and walking. I am fairly quiet by nature but have a circle of friends, I can be quite chatty and witty in the right company but am not a fan of "small talk" and I prefer small groups to large ones.
On holiday I like to see both cities and landscapes, not beaches - more sightseeing, so quite active but with relaxing breaks in coffee shops and bars. Past destinations have included Iceland, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the Axores. Future destinations will probably include a Norwegian cruise (hoping to see the Northern Lights), the Baltic States, Canada and Teotihuacan in Mexico, not forgetting a trip to see a total eclipse sometime in the next few years. But I also wish to see more of Britain for short breaks.
I am looking forward to an active retirement and want to share adventures and quiet times with someone special.
I have two adult sons and we meet up quite often.

I would like a kind, thoughtful, intelligent and hopefully sensual companion with at least some common interests. Someone with whom I can share life's ups (mainly) and perhaps occasional downs. Someone with whom to share new experiences, explore places and develop interests. I don't have "an ideal person" in mind, let's meet up and see whether things "click".
