So much better to meet and talk.
I have lived and worked around the world. I very much enjoy discovering / attempting to understand other cultures. I like to travel both at home and abroad. Meaningful / challenging conversation, smiles and laughter are as important to me as oxygen. Enjoy being outdoors, walking, sailing, cycling, golf, swimming, snorkelling, watching rugby but that is complemented by equal enjoyment from museums, theatre, live music, laughter, flirting, good food and wine. Derive great pleasure from my involvement (voluntary) with my old university, one of Scotland's ancients. I am fortunate that I have both a place right on the sea just north of Inverness for all the outdoors activities and a spacious flat in Edinburgh's New Town for the city fun plus the financial means / comfort to enjoy both. I enjoy a good party and am often the organiser. Enjoy listening to Radio 4, Radio 2, Classic FM and JazzFM. I am very tactile and miss a companion / partner touching me at an event with a glance which says "yes, I'm here with you which makes this event all the more enjoyable".
Shared interests are great. However, so is the curiosity and discovery from that which is different. Things that really matter to me are: trusting and being trusted, kindness, being able to be silent together, delighting in the comedy moment, not always taking myself / ourselves too seriously, balance between planned and spontaneous, sometimes just being held and enjoying the closeness. I am an eternal optimist. My elder son once remarked, "in terms of a glass being half full or half empty, dad's glass overflows".
I am very close to my sons, their wives and the grandchildren.
I remain on good terms with my former wife - and why not? Our divorce was amicable, without rancour.
To avoid any confusion / misunderstanding (!) the woman in the photograph of me in my kilt is my sister at my son's wedding on the island of Syros, Greece.

Ideally someone who enjoys and is willing to share a number of the things I like, such as watching rugby and being outdoors, concerts, theatre. Aware of and interested in current affairs plus enjoys a good discussion / even argument on the "big" questions of the day. Tactile, no issue with showing affection in public. A woman who is sensual, (feels) sexy, knows it and shows it. A woman who has confidence in herself and trust in me.
It is also important to give space to each other for the individual interests and friendships which have developed over the years.
