About him
I can be quiet and enjoy absorbing myself in the newspaper or a book. I also have a penchant for radio comedy, especially The Goons, Hancock’s Half Hour and The Hitch-hiker’s Guide. Among others. I love music and have a large collection of classical CDs and a large collection of scores. I have a particular interest in the music of Howells, Stanford, Parry, Bax and Havergal Brian; and any British music from the mid-19th century to the present day. I occasionally go to the opera, but dislike listening to recordings of opera. And I’m not much for ballet either.
I love visiting churches and cathedrals, although I have no interest in religion; the music is fascinating and choral evensong can provide a lovely free concert. When I am able I attend the local session of Philosophy in Pubs.
I’m a “glass half full” optimist, although the rationalist in me would say “that vessel is too large for that amount of fluid”.

I am looking for someone with similar interests, but someone who might open my eyes to new outlooks and experiences (although I draw the line at line-dancing). Walking is something I need to do more of, and there are some lovely places to walk in Shropshire.
