About him
My friends say that I am kind and generous, educated, excellent at crosswords and interested in world events. I am fairly knowledgeable about most things which makes conversations interesting and enjoyable. I enjoy a laugh and lean towards Monty Python-type sense of humour. I enjoy watching films, but am less keen on tv, particularly American comedy, although ‘What’s up Doc?’ was the funniest movie ever made. I love cats, but am not so keen on dogs due to a traumatic confrontation with a German Shepherd when I was a student, from which I still bear the scars. I have travelled extensively, most recently living and working in Brazil, and intend to carry on travelling as long as I am able.

I am looking for like-minded company; someone who is open-minded and willing to try (almost) anything. Kindness and generosity are important, and honesty is essential. However, in the right person none of these is important (except honesty).

John has been a good friend for over 20 years. He's attentive, a good listener and super modest despite being able to fix most things easily. His madeleines are out of this world and his chutneys legendary. John enjoys antique fayres, restoration projects and outings. He's cultured but never boastful, can be quiet and a tad dauted in a large group of people but relaxes in a one to one situation. John is always willing to help and when asked for advice - which he's reluctant to give - offers balanced, tolerant views and sensible suggestions.
