Full disclosure: I have never voted Conservative in my life.
A better title to this section would be This is who I am; would you like to get to know me. Therefore...briefly...
I have an interest in learning guitar and piano that I need to revitalize. My music teacher has said that it is only lack of practice and a complete absence of talent that is holding me back. Following on from walking the length of Britain starting in 2005, in manageable chunks, I am now a third of the way through cycling round the coast of Britain, again in manageable chunks. The only part that is completed is the Welsh coast. Post-retirement I have made three six-months trips to South America, staying in backpacker hostels. Perhaps I may get back to that post-apocalypse.
I believe that astrology is nonsense and only proves that there is one born every day. My birth sign is Pyrex, I was a test tube baby.
I started my working life as a medical laboratory scientist, then travelled for a couple of years (including working for six months through the winter in a hospital in northern Finland), then went to universities at the age of 30. After that I worked as a bioengineer in NHS hospitals, mostly in orthopaedic research until retirement. I am interested in painting and drawing; in happier times I attended a life drawing class and a painting class. I have a son (1986) and daughter (1988). I have a brother in Bridgwater (Somerset) and a sister in Bury St Edmunds. More precisely my alcohol intake is about eight pints a year, ie. two visits to my brother in Somerset.
Some women say chemistry is important. I can write down the formulae for several compounds and have memorized the first two lines of the periodic table, so I presume I've got that covered.

About his ideal match
I would like to meet a non-smoker of slim-to-average build. I prefer women with shoulder length hair. Not sure I would get on with a dyed-in-the-wool Conservative or a very religious person; I am an atheist, Thank God!

I would not describe myself as a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty person; I just think the glass is twice the size it needs to be.
At the moment a lot of my energy is going into helping a newly arrived Ukrainian family, living with me in my house under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, cope with life in the UK. A learning/adjustment process for us all.
