About her
I love colour, flowers, trees, music - Bach, Handel, jazz at live gigs, Van Morrison, JJ Cale, Santana and others - reading, gardening, playing with clothes (sadly only wear trousers now). I enjoy spending time with friends (small number of close relationships) and children (abroad but in frequent contact). I love having sight of the sea, exploring cities with a partner, going to concerts, visiting art galleries, and my garden (which reminds me of the lovely garden of my childhood). I am interested in politics tending towards left of centre. I am quiet but talkative, peaceful but exuberant, restful but energetic, and restrained but passionate - hence my love of Bach. I am currently recovering from a knee replacement... but would love to walk the Camino... I share my home and garden with two young cats, like them I am not fully domesticated and can never be fully tamed. Someone said to me "I've never met anyone quite like you". My late husband said I was challenging, but utterly loveable. Friends describe me as highly intelligent, caring, empathic, warm, good company. A close friend said people grow through knowing me because I give of myself. Seeing myself in those ways sometimes feels puzzling as they contradict the sense of self I grew up with; despite knowing myself well it is difficult to reconcile the contradictions.

It is impossible to predict chemistry but I tend to take to people who are open, warm, friendly, highly intelligent and interesting. I love learning and enjoy being with someone who enjoys sharing their knowledge as despite being very well educated myself there remain surprising gaps in my knowledge. I like nothing more than philosophising about people and life within engaging conversation with close friends. I could only marry for love but like the peace which comes with financial security as having known insecurity in my early life security is important to me. We would not have to share the same interests but if you enjoy going to similar places that would be great as I enjoy companionship. We would have to share the values of tolerance and compassion - I could not share life with a bigot, racist, or someone who holds the simplistic view that people are born good or bad. I would like it if you enjoy the simple things in life as well as special times, it would be good to look across the room and feel we are together in life.
