About her
I'm lively, optimistic and sociable. I'm also a feminist, atheiest and democratic socialist. I adore music - especially Leonard Cohen, Abba and Beethoven - as well as reading, walking, exercising, talking and laughing. Other things that make me happy include dancing, being with friends and travelling. And I adore live music, dance and comedy.
I love getting dressed up to go out. It has sometimes been observed that the process takes an excessive amount of time, but I would dispute that. That said, I'm mainly to be found in my jeans. And I'm perfectly happy to rough it sometimes (although very rarely without quite a lot of eyeliner).
I'm a qualified teacher and solicitor. Most recently I worked as a supply teacher, but I stopped work completely in 2018. I have the odd witty moment. I'm a bit scatty. I'm very good at assembling flat-pack furniture. I make a mean gratin dauphinois. I used to be scared of gardening but have surprised myself recently by getting quite into it. I'm always cheered up when I get a decaf cappuccino that actually tastes of coffee. And if it has a little biscuit on the side my day is made.
Politics is important to me - I'm on the left. I'm always up for discussion and debate but, so far as the people I'm close to are concerned, there needs to be a fair amount of agreement on the important stuff.
My 25 year old son lives with me. We get on well but are pretty independent of each other and mostly just get on with our lives and catch up in the kitchen from time to time.

I would like to meet someone who enjoys walking, music, eating out, talking and holidays. He will be on the left politically. He will have a sense of fun, and the ability to find humour in unlikely situations.
I am looking for closeness, openness and trust (definitely no smoke and mirrors); the ability to make each other laugh frequently; some shared interests; being an important part of each other's lives whilst maintaining a degree of independence.
