About him
I was born in Wales and grew up in Leicestershire. Serious minded with a surreal sense of humour. I am a stocky 'Anglo-Saxon looking' sort of chap with mousey / badger hair and glasses. Swimming is my main exercise. Reading is another interest; especially modern historical factual accounts and fiction. My photo is quite old but it is of me (when I was about forty). I am sixty now !
For ten years,until the end of August 2017, I worked in central London in an administrative / managerial capacity, in a higher education context, which also took me sometimes to different parts of Wales, Northern Ireland and other parts of the UK.. Having then taken an unexpected career break, there followed deaths from natural causes of four close family members in November 2019, March 2020, October 2022 and June 2023.
I enjoy quite an extensive and eclectic range of musical genres, from classical to progressive rock, as well as some of the new stuff.
Amongst other places, I have been to USA , Canada, France , Italy, Switzerland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Yorkshire and even Rutland (!)
I am interested in politics, economics, science, military history, aviation, Sci-fi, and 'the arts' in a broad sense. I was raised in the Church of England and still find that a source of comfort but I don't go to Church very often but feel I should do. I draw comfort from Christianity, reflectiveness but also some classical music and progressive rock, especially Early Genesis, Renaissance, Steele Eye Span, Rush, Pink Floyd, Camel, Marillion and others of these genres. As 2024 begins, my hope for the future diminishes and my expectations of life reduce likewise. I am grateful for the gifts of good health (as long as I take all of my pills!).
