About him
I’m intelligent and affectionate, with a variety of interests: music, the arts as a whole, walking, politics, charity volunteering, sport, gardening, cooking and more. Before the pandemic I drove patients to hospital appointments for the local Hospice which was inspirational at times - the brave and interesting people I met. I'm a good walking companion, and I appreciate good food and wine. I value people and try to understand different points of view. I have some core values though: the postwar Welfare State, with all its faults, seems the most civilised way of running a country there is. (You might guess that I don’t vote Conservative). I like physical warmth: hugs were one of biggest misses during lockdown. Ideally it would be wonderful to find someone who would be a friend, a confidante and a lover.
Music does really move me - it's been a huge inspiration at every stage of my life, although my actual job was teaching British and European History. I have conducted choirs and sung with them for over 40 years, as well as playing the violin and piano. I organise and direct concerts to raise money for the Hospice. (Also conducted a choir in the film Song for Marion. Me, Terence Stamp, Vanessa Redgrave and Gemma Arterton. All of 2 mins on screen..,). Re photos -the last is 2023, the mirror portrait is June 2021, the side profile (in Italy) 2017, the cover photo is older but I genuinely can say I haven't changed much except being a bit slimmer now. I have a married daughter with two young grandchildren. I'm fully vaccinated. Please do send me a message if you'd like to make contact. I think it's essential to have some similar interests and passions to share, but be ready to embrace differences, too. Someone to share life with, whether it's cooking, the garden, travel abroad (so far it’s been mainly France or Italy for me), while retaining their own life and personality. I would try to give as much to any relationship as I received. Lots of people on these websites seems to refer to 'chemistry' as the ideal. It’s not so easy to discover that at the other end of an email or a text: face to face meetings are better.
