About her
I'm independent, straightforward and not very conventional - I'll only do things because they make sense to me, not because everyone else does them. I focus a lot on being fit and healthy, growing and cooking my own food. I tend to feel that I should work hard and earn pleasures.
I've got a scientific PhD but, bizarrely, don't think I'm very scientific - I think I did it for the brain challenge more than the science. I'm much more interested in people and love being in a teaching role, though I'm a very reluctant party-goer.
I think a lot, don't like crowds and don't mind being on my own, but I really like being with just one other when I can truly be myself with them.
Don't try to woo me with flowers, presents of any kind or flowery compliments. I'd rather you brought a sharp wit and compassion for others.

I'm looking for someone who thinks for himself and doesn't follow the crowd - someone who forms his views with logic and reason but who is entirely straightforward and honest. A love of walking or cycling, exploring quiet places in the UK and unsophisticated home-cooking would be good.
