I’m at a kind of crossroads at the moment - in a good way. My last longterm relationship ended three years ago (absolutely for the best) but took a long while to bounce back from. I’m sorted with my home and car and life generally - plus I’m a single gay dad via surrogacy to a little girl (who is just amazing). I don’t need to work anymore. I’m 50 - see no point lying about my age as it’s just a number and I don’t think I look or feel whatever 50 is meant to be 🤣😊. I did extremely well in my career so financially secure blah blah. I’m just trying to think about and consciously design the kind of life that I really want. That doesn’t make me rigid or not open to great things that might crop up but, maybe like you, I’m slightly cautious. I’m not actively searching for Mr Right, but would love it if he somehow appeared.
About his ideal match
I think my ideal life / lifestyle definitely exists around family and making a beautiful home - possibly divided between city and country / best of both worlds (thinking about possibly buying a couple of properties maybe for investment or one as a bolt hole). I love where we live now, having lived in central London for 23 years. I’d love to travel and I do like to stay in ‘nice’ places haha - not being shallow or pretentious, I just like lovely places and experiences. Scarlett’s now at school which limits that opportunity - but she has 13 weeks of school holidays per year for overseas stuff and then plenty of opportunities for lovely weekends and a decent spa (me not Scarlett). I occasionally like the theatre or galleries (know little about anything haha but so long as there’s a gift shop and a decent cafe or champagne bar then I’m sorted).
I’d like someone on a similar page to enjoy all those things with and just have an good laugh along the way in life. No one is perfect, including me, but I’m pretty easy going, not into drama whatsoever, down to earth and really appreciate simple stuff in life - curling up together, a coffee or brunch out and about / bit of people watching etc. Afraid I’m a hand holder and cuddler, so I have to be with someone who is absolutely comfortable with who they are - I’m not going back into anyone’s closet happily.
I’d definitely like and intend to have another baby (sibling for Scarlett) soon rather than wait for the right relationship which might not happen. So someone who really likes and wants to have children is crucial. I’d also be open to more children if that’s something my partner wanted. Becoming a dad has been indescribably brilliant - it honestly has. It does change your flexibility to do what you like when you want - but that’s to be expected and hasn’t bothered me whatsoever. It’s been colossally worth it.
