So, my New Year resolution is to focus more on things that make me happy. Tinker with my schedule and find more time to read and write; travel as I used to, and with my kids in tow when I can; try to learn more systemically about arts…maybe even improve my PB for 10k (it is fairly pathetic at the moment!).
And also - this is genuinely high in the priority stack - venture on a date with someone inspiring. That is, if the stars align, the gods of matching algorithms smile, and a man who is mad in exactly the right way has the same idea.
There is a particular alchemy presenting itself when you “click” with another: so powerful, so inspiring. Raising anticipation and excitement… talking seriously about nonsense and laughing about serious things. Feeling lightheaded in a way that has nothing to do with the second glass of champaign.
I am not creating any imagery further than that, even though that elusive “last first date” would be a gift. It can differ, the journey people take each other on. All good things start with a light touch, and then… as it feels natural.
I probably should give you some facts about myself at this point. I am reasonably educated, boundlessly liberal, and lucky to do a global job I do. Still get IDed when I buy drinks now and then (it absolutely makes my day!). Gentle and enjoy being that that way. Rest you can ask…
