About him
I’m a GP and Functional Medicine practitioner based in York, curious by nature and happiest when I’m learning, creating or improving something. I enjoy history, travel, cycling, engineering projects and restoring things that still have plenty of life left in them.
Friends would probably describe me as calm, dependable, thoughtful and quietly determined. I value kindness, loyalty, integrity and keeping your word. I’m naturally someone who takes responsibility and looks after the people I care about, but I also believe the best relationships are true partnerships where both people feel heard, appreciated and encouraged.
Animals matter a great deal to me. I’ve rescued dogs and cats over the years and currently share life with Ranger, a retired racing greyhound who has mastered the art of occupying considerably more sofa than seems physically possible.
Professionally and personally, I’m interested in looking beyond assumptions and asking better questions. I enjoy thoughtful conversation, but I’m equally happy wandering through an old city, exploring somewhere new, taking a countryside walk, tinkering with an engineering project or simply enjoying a relaxed evening with good company.
I’m family-oriented, broadly traditional in my outlook and at a stage of life where I know what matters. I’m not interested in collecting dates. I’d much rather meet one wonderful person with whom friendship, affection and trust can grow into something lasting.

For me, a good relationship isn’t about competing with one another or keeping score. It’s about being on the same side: encouraging each other, appreciating our different strengths and building a peaceful, interesting life together. I naturally tend to lead by serving—taking responsibility, creating stability and looking after those I love—and I’m drawn to a woman who values that while bringing her own wisdom, warmth and individuality to the relationship.
Intellectual curiosity matters to me, but so does emotional generosity. You don’t need to share every one of my interests, although a fondness for animals would be difficult to negotiate away.
