About him
I used to be a business journalist and had my own company for a number of years before retiring. These days I keep active playing tennis, using my rowing machine if it's cold or wet, with long walks in the countryside if it’s bright and sunny. I enjoy watching most sports, especially rugby union, tennis, horse racing and F1. I can easily get lost in a good book, mainly autobiographies and anything from Robert Harris to Anne Tyler, William Boyd to Jeremy Clarkson. I didn’t enjoy history in school but I’m really keen on it now, mainly Roman and Egyptian and books by Mary Beard and Hilary Mantel. I try to keep up to date with events and politics, though I'm a bit disillusioned with most of it.
I lost my wife five years ago but was incredibly lucky to meet such a lovely woman and have a smashing life together. My son is a hospital consultant and lives in Bath.
Since 2019 I have completed some lobbying for Cancer Research UK, I support the wonderful Guide Dog charity and help out at a small theatre in Cirencester. I like to think I’m kind, a good listener, easy going and relaxed about most things - chatting with friends about the trials and tribulations of everyday life, while planning new experiences.

I would like to meet a confident, independent woman who knows her own mind and enjoys the good things that life has to offer - chatting over coffee, meeting family and friends, days out and doing silly things as we get to know each other. Hopefully we would have lots to talk about, with similar family values and be equal partners in crime.
It would be great to meet a woman who is funny, creative and stylish; who enjoys dancing, swimming in the sea, sunshine, short breaks in the UK and holidays abroad, just watching TV in front of the log fire and simple things - like holding hands walking along the beach.
