About him
Since I retired, I have been writing, and am self publishing my first book. I write historical fiction and like to visit historic towns and houses - (national trust and English heritage) but a walk around the Baltic is on my bucket list. Like many writers, I have a large collection of books.
I enjoy learning languages and have attended Spanish classes for four years. I speak German and have schoolboy French. I would like to know other languages.
I am passionate about sustainability, Europe and ecology – I try to limit my carbon footprint so am not enthusiastic about flying long distances.
I don’t much like sports any more but I walk four miles every day. In Salisbury, there are rivers with swans and fish (not very big fish these days). When walking I love the magnificent old trees and am sometimes lucky enough to see a squirrel or two.
I love classical music, best played with an authentic sound – I like baroque, but almost anything up to Stockhausen will do nicely. I once heard of a pet crow who would always listen when Mozart or Brahms were on the radio, but when Britten started, he’d squawk and leave the room.

I’m also fond of squirrels, but I don’t know what music they like.
