About her
My name is Jane, and I am 48 years old. I am curvy and cuddly and rather short, but I make up for that in character. I have a wicked sense of humour and a keen sense of the ridiculous – I love to laugh and joke. I do have a more serious side, and I am a brave survivor of life. As an introvert, I value time to myself to recharge, but I equally cherish time with my friends. I prefer a smaller social circle of true friends rather than a large number of acquaintances. I can be quite shy in unknown situations and am more likely to be found observing rather than participating at first. However, once I’m comfortable with someone, my true character emerges. I am gentle and loyal and like to see the best in people.
I’m a practising Christian and my faith is important to me although I don’t tend to shout about it. I prefer to try and live a Christian life guided by those principles and show my faith through my treatment of others. I’m a musician and play the violin in a local orchestra. I’m also a singer and enjoy singing with others, although I’m currently not in a choir. Other activities include walking, sewing and being creative, reading and cooking (you need to try my spring risotto!). I’m curious about other cultures and ways of life. I love to travel when possible and a huge part of the trip is both researching the location, customs and food before I go, and creating a printed book of my diaries and photographs on my return. I enjoy the theatre, concerts and museums as well as sitting enjoying a view of the sea or the mountains.
I work in the education field. I have 22 years’ experience in the primary school classroom, which I really enjoyed, then moved to Norfolk to take up work as an Education Officer which combines my love of education, teaching study and faith. Day to day, my work is varied and stimulating, and I’ve got both structure and freedom to develop my interests.
About her ideal match
I’d like to meet someone who is kind and gentle and patient. A sense of humour is a must! I would enjoy simple chats over coffee, walks at the beach, trips to places of interest, sharing meals and feeling comfortable to relax together. I’m not sure how I would react to someone else’s children (or they to me), so this is something I may need to explore. Key for me is someone who is genuine, honest and truthful. I don’t mind about faith – as long as we respect each other’s points of view and live by similar values then that works for me.

I got to know Jane because somebody had to drop out of supporting me at a really important event in my life. I hadn't been long in the country and her warmth, her generous friendship and quiet loyalty was a welcome presence in my new life here.
Since then we have shared many great moments together: singing multiple parts in a very small choir with a deaf organist (try it!), teaching rather tech-resistant volunteers to use a website Jane built (yes, she is very clever!), creating teaching content for young children (well, I tagged along, Jane is the expert), running a tuck-shop at a youth festival (ask her!), recording music for online worship, oh, and many an hour eating (Italian, per favore), chatting, being charmed by her cat....
I am so glad to call Jane my friend. She is thoughtful and gentle and kind and a wonderfully talented seamstress, and, importantly, someone who is brave and inspiring, someone you can trust and have a great laugh with.
She doesn't boast, but deserves the biggest shout-out.
