I could try to deny it, but the truth is I’m a bit of a romantic. I dare to dream of a great love (you know the one…where you seek out their eyes in a crowded room, and somewhere an orchestra starts playing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No 2 …?), that also encompasses tolerance and understanding, sweetness and kindness, healthy debate and laughing til our cheeks hurt. No need to live in each other’s pockets - it’s good to have room to breathe. But please don’t stay away too long! You’d be missed. Born in the USA (cue the music), brought up between Kenya and UK, and many happy, fun-filled years spent living in London, I’m happy to now call Devon home. I nonetheless do still seek the cultural thrill of spending time in cities visiting galleries, theatre, the opera (if I’m really lucky) and all inevitably topped off by a visit to Fortnum’s for tea. This all tends to take place during the school holidays, as I work in Education (which I love), term time only (which means 13 weeks holiday a year to spend with someone gorgeous, doing gorgeous things.) The city rush is balanced by time spent stomping with the hound on beach or moor. A big fan of all things French (especially food, and in the interests of transparency I should declare a deeply worrying Chanel habit). Adore lunch with ‘the girls’ in London, the Saturday Telegraph pub quiz and crossword in a hostelry - pre or post dog walk - with friends and/or family, Sunday lunches (a firm favourite) yet equally content with a quiet supper for two at home. *Just wanted to clarify - I don’t drink because I can’t - I’m allergic to alcohol. I know. Tragic. However, happily, I’m not allergic to people who aren’t allergic to alcohol. So, it’s all good; there is always a bottle of something chilled in the fridge.
