Thanks for reading my profile and I hope it provides some intrigue – enough to prompt you to send a message!
I am a small person with a big passion for life - with all its ups and downs. Having been married for 35 years & now divorced, I still find it odd to be without a partner and am happier in “the company of another”. My good points, I’m told, are being kind, sensitive, positive and with a silly sense of humour, and my main fault is being irritatingly energetic.
I have had a wonderful and long career in academic medicine which is now being slowly replaced by other interests and commitments, including a delightful 2-year-old grandson. I have two adult daughters – both of whom work for the NHS in Edinburgh and I am deeply proud of them.
I have travelled for work to many countries and remain passionately concerned about poverty, sustainable development and equity in all parts of the world. My other interests are diverse and continually evolving, and include yoga, (most) classical music, ballet and opera, my cello, fine art, poetry, rambling, volunteering, the natural world, forests, climate change, and our dear NHS. I enjoy being outdoors in all the weathers Scotland has to offer, as well as savouring the sun & splendour of warmer climes - from Accra to Zanzibar. I live at Edinburgh’s delightful seaside and spend many a happy hour there walking my golden retriever and puzzling at the antics of the mad cold-water swimmers!
An ideal date would involve either a rendezvous in an outside venue like the botanic gardens or at the beach – with access to good coffee, or a stroll round an art gallery or museum followed by an early evening drink. But I’m happy to hear of other more exciting options. Surprise me.
