Nothing quite like it when you find it. The sense and scent of them, the way they might look at you, that smile. The before, the after, the hours of laughing and chatting, the wondering what just happened on that date, at that time, in that place you never quite saw in the same way again.
Do you remember it too?
I’m a retired nurse, with a keen interest in people. I always appreciated the person behind the patient and I still do in my new life. Although this Irishman never quite managed to kiss the blarney stone - wary of heights - I still seem to have the way with words, it’s in our genes I think.
I love my music, classical has been in my soul from very early, hearing my favourites in Symphony Hall is such a joy. I also really warm to folk and jazz, speaks to your heart (I discovered the Eastside Jazz club last year, if you’re interested, still looking for my folk house). Then, of course, there’s Spotify (!).
Been here in Castle Bromwich nearly three years now, moved from Wales to be close to my beautiful grandkids who look after me four times a week, after school and nursery. Family is very important to me and probably is to you too. The kids keep me busy and refreshed, with the things they say and do!
I’ve still plenty of time for me (and you, if you care to join in). I enjoy the flics, jigsaw puzzling, reading of course, TV sometimes, theatre definitely, but mostly, I like getting out and about exploring. I’ve worked out where the culture’s at around here (can’t go wrong with Lichfield, Leamington, Stratford, Warwick and more), so much to see and do. Being in the midlands, getting to most places is quite easy, even London without HS2. Your company on local manoeuvres would be lovely ❤️.

I keep myself fit every week, through pickleball, table-tennis and walking (with the dog or the Ramblers). I’m considering going swimming again too (or ‘organised drowning’ as I must stop thinking of it). If any of those appeal, great, but not obligatory. I’d love to know what you enjoy, maybe show me something new?
If you like to travel, that’s something we share. I’ve been far away in my time, but what really interests me now are mini adventures around our beautiful home islands - so close, we sometimes don’t see them clearly - and also train journeying around Europe (first trip in planning for next year). Must be my German ancestry. Slowing down reveals so much more, don't you think?
So, there’s just a few thoughts about me.

You’re a complex being too, of course, we’re all of us a mosaic from where we’ve been been, where we are and where we’re headed.
You’re likely to be kind, warm-hearted yet pretty sure of yourself. You’ll know your worth (and I’ll respect that too). You’ll love culture of all sorts, the things I’ve mentioned and more besides. You’ll be sometimes impulsive, or even crazy, it’s allowed. You’ll likely startle me from time to time, but you’ll grow in me as I hope, I will in you too.
We haven’t met yet, but when we do, I fancy you’ll catch my eye, quicken my pulse and warm my soul.
It’s all good when we just remember what matters.
