1. I’m a very busy pro musician (jazz pianist and keys player in a reggae/ska band, among other things)
2. I was a translator (French and German) for 15 years and a writer/editor for several years (I wrote the match report on the 2018 World Cup Final for a popular football website)
3. I’ve written a rather racy romantic novel
4. I write poetry and songs, some of which are humorous and X-rated
5. I’m a softcore Christian (liberal Anglican) and am quite active in my church (I sing in the choir, among other things)
6. I play football and tennis and like working out at the gym
7. My friends and family say I’m a nice guy, hilariously funny and a good listener, so I’ll take their word for it!
8. I live with and look after my mum
9. I’m a moderate centre-left liberal type with some conservative leanings
10. I’m rather bookish and like using esoteric words (like “esoteric”)

James is very clever and very funny. I've known him and been friends with him for over 15 years now and there is still never a dull moment when we catch up! James is a very talented singer, musician, writer and linguist. I love his sense of humour and he has helped me to see the funny side in many of life's mishaps that have come my way - more than seems reasonable! . He is a very loyal friend and always makes time for those he cares about. Whilst often irreverent, James has a huge capacity for empathy and is a great listener. A night out with him promises to be memorable (for the right reasons!).

I have known James for over 30 years. He has been one of my closest friends for all that time. He is underselling himself in his profile.
James has the kindest, deepest and most sensitive soul of anyone I know. He is humble and clever, and the most talented musician I've ever met. No one else has ever made me cry with laughter, but James has done so on more than one occasion.
Life makes things complicated, so we don't see each other as often as I'd like, but we are in touch every day, on serious topics and stupid ones. I envy people who get to meet him for the first time, because their day will be full of joy, even if James makes them snort a drink out of their nose.
