In Her Own Words
About her
My friends would describe me as creative and somewhere between an introvert and an extravert. Likes: coffee shops, trains, art galleries, walking, quiet country churches, half empty cathedrals and classic films. Dislikes: formal restaurants (for dates*), loud music, love-bombing (it's not real, so just don't bother), WhatsApp and Facebook. My internet get switched off at night and unlike many, I am not 'on' 24/7 and am against Digital ID replacing existing methods.
If my profile floats your boat, drop me a line and we can converse here and then perhaps actually meet.
Foodwise: very occasionally, I will cook something interesting. For fun, I love to sing, play gigs in pleasant places (not ones full of competitive musicians), attend a French conversation group (less frequently, a photography group) and take buses, often chronicling my adventures in a journal. My outlook on life is cautiously optimistic, although I now read between the lines in terms of world events.
Having relocated to the north east of England from the urban fringe of the south, I still can't get my head round the local car culture. Outside of work commuting (usually by car), my preference is to use public transport and to get a little bit of walking in on the journey.
(*I will go to restaurants when out and about. My favourite restaurant locally was 'Lebaneat' and find I Greek & Turkish food OK, but prefer cafes or 'caffs' for day to day stop-offs).
About her ideal match
I am looking for a man with a great deal of genuine warmth, patience and a sense of humour. He would need to be bright. If he likes buses and trains, that would probably make the relationship work. Also academically inclined. I would like someone with whom I could go to events, such as the fireworks or to a gallery (but not someone who spends hours in front of a picture). It would be good if the man was Christian and not threatened by a slightly introspective, thoughtful woman with quiet views of her own. Knowledge of at least one foreign language preferable: someone who has travelled more than been a tourist. A deal breaker would be someone too house-proud with a small-town world view or someone who is too into gadgets and trusts Alexa.
In terms of politics, please note that as I have matured, I have become more (small c) conservative (so do not interpret the 'box-tick' political answer as wholly representative). My roots, and immediate family roots, are in the Labour and social democratic movements. So I believe in good education for all, whilst respecting the Independent sector for upholding standards. And having studied Geography for a long time, my view on climate change is that new weather patterns are more likely to be part of a wider trend than created by industry/deforestation.
Nul points for gentlemen who dismiss my opinions/perspectives in company or in private. I've taught critical thinking, am respectful of others' opinions and expect the courtesy of not being shut down. I want an equal partner & one who respects me as I would respect him. Someone, in other words, whom I would love, with that love being genuinely reciprocated.
