About her
I'm intelligent, independent, honest, and love few things more than a good laugh. Can be quite fiery and enjoy a healthy debate. Although actually somewhat shy, it's extremely unlikely that I would ever be described as a shrinking violet. Feminine but not an uber 'girlie girl' - I drink beer, don't wear make-up every waking moment, and actually enjoy watching (some) sports on telly. I don't consider shopping a pastime, but enjoy it when I need something and have the funds available. A brush with melanoma in my late 20s led to the religious use of sunblock, so my skin has fared pretty well, all things considered. But my once rather striking looks have obviously faded with age, so anyone putting a high priority on appearance should save precious time and stop reading now.
I work for myself (IT), so my schedule is fairly flexible. Walking in the countryside, reading, listenting to music and road trips are my favourite ways to spend free time. Possesed of a reasonable degree of artistic talent, but have not focused on that in years - hoping to revive and improve my skills once retired. Fond of travel, but not airplanes, though I can force myself onto them when the need arises.
Better at baking than cooking. Not a foodie, rather picky actually, and mostly avoid meat because of the way farmed animals are treated. I love animals, especially dogs, but don't currently have any pets. The charities that get my support are generally those that focus on groups/things less able (or unable) to help themselves - animals, children and the environment.
I've become too aware of the ever-increasing speed with which time is passing. Hoping to find someone to share enjoyment with before the sand runs out of the hourglass. Prefer to meet someone reasonably local to me; don't want to spend too much of the time that remains on commuting.

Must-haves: intelligence, integrity, a sense of humour that chimes with mine, and decent teeth (not Turkey teeth, just teeth that look like a reasonable degree of effort is expended in cleaning/maintaining them).
Nice-to-haves: taller than me (to save you scrolling through my profile, I'm 5'7"), values recycling (that's nearly a must-have), has similar interests, has emotional intelligence, knows what an ellipsis is (and the correct number of dots it contains).
Probably not worth listing the 'too-good-to-be-true' items, because as most people who have lived this long know: someone can tick all the boxes, but you may not click, and conversely you may get on like a house afire with someone who leaves some of the boxes unticked.
