About her
I arrived in the UK in 1987 from my home city – Rio de Janeiro – after a year in New York working in marketing with my Scottish husband. Here in the UK, and because my background was in languages, I became a translator, profession to which I dedicated 25 years of my life.
When a youngster, I studied piano, painting, and a little ballet, but the only sports I practiced were volley and cycling in the Ipanema neighbourhood where my family lived. And, of course, we spent some good time on the beach every weekend or holiday.
I grew up in a religious family and wanted to study theology at a time when women were not allowed to do it. But, because I had taken a speech course in the USA in the 1960’s, I was once invited to substitute a Minister in the British church I had joined. This started my ‘other carrier’ as a lay preacher, something I have been doing with a lot of joy and dedication for 30 years now.
This doesn’t mean I am a boring type of religious girl – on the contrary. I love telling jokes, singing, dressing up, going out and meeting people. I am a cinema, theatre, ballet, and opera fan.
Finally, I also had difficult and sad times in my life – who doesn’t? But I always overcame them and carried on happy and full of plans and dreams which, one way or another, always come to fruition.

Since widowed a year ago, I’ve been going out with other widows/single women – which is nice, but in the end, you miss male company, an arm to hold on to, a deep voice to hear.
I am looking for a man who has a creative and open mind rich with his own ideas, who enjoys reading, is well informed, aware of what is going on in the world. Someone who loves nature, music and art in general.
Religious activities play an important part in my life so, this person would have to accept this in me, ideally take part in them as well.
In Brazil I have a son, a daughter and her two teenage children. I visit Rio occasionally to see them and my 'partner' would be welcome to come along with me, should our relation develop.
