Former judge—now rebranded as someone who plays jazz piano, occasionally behaves on a golf course, and is learning that retirement is less about stopping and more about choosing better things to start.
I divide my time between music (piano in a jazz band, guitar when no one’s listening), volunteering, reading, and wandering around Hampshire in search of good coffee or a decent view. I’m as happy in a country pub as I am slightly overdressed at something that probably didn’t require a bow tie.
I have three grown-up children and one small grandchild who is already more charismatic than I am, which is both impressive and mildly inconvenient.
I like conversation that goes somewhere unexpected, people who are comfortable in their own skin, and humour that’s a bit dry rather than delivered with a megaphone.
