About him
I've been extraordinarily fortunate to have lived a life involving adventure, travel, scientific discovery and a mildly unhealthy curiosity about just about everything. I've pursued ideas, challenged theories and made contributions to cancer research — so I can confirm that I occasionally have useful thoughts.
Now I'm considerably more laid-back, open and comfortable in my own skin. I don't feel the need to prove anything.
I'm naturally curious, thoughtful, kind, generous and empathetic, with a dry sense of humour and a cheeky smile that occasionally gets me into trouble. I enjoy conversations about almost anything, but I'm equally happy sharing companionable silence. I'm an optimist by nature and, so I'm told, good company.
I've been single for a couple of years and I'm not looking to fill some existential void. I'm perfectly happy on my own, which probably means I'm a little choosy. So far, nobody has produced that elusive spark.
I'm a bit of a polymath. I write fiction and non-fiction, paint occasionally, create songs using AI, fix things that probably shouldn't be fixable, and generally enjoy learning how things work.
I love new experiences and adventure. A walk through the countryside, a wild coastline or anywhere involving water will usually get my vote. Water is my favourite element, partly because I'm a surprisingly enthusiastic swimmer and partly because I've never managed to walk on it.
Life with me is rarely dull. I'm young at heart, reasonably well preserved, financially secure and still very much have a pulse. I like affection, chemistry, laughter and knowing how to make a woman feel wanted, appreciated and very, very pleased she came along.
I'm not interested in mind games, unnecessary drama, politics or competitive emotional gymnastics. I'd much rather laugh until we can't breathe, disappear somewhere beautiful for the weekend, have a ridiculous conversation at 2am and occasionally wonder how we ended up there.

I'm not looking for perfection, a polished image, or someone trying to impress the world. I'd much rather meet a woman who's intelligent, funny, emotionally mature, genuinely kind, and unapologetically herself. Obviously you should not look like the back of a bus!
