About him
I’m calm, dependable, truthful and annoyingly unshockable and Life experienced. I have an interesting sense of humour and I’m supportive and positive of others, I have tenacity and enjoy tactics and problem solving. I want to return to long distance cycling after a midcab operation in ‘23. I have organised & cycled: Orkney to Silly Isles; All 47 English Cathedrals Cities; Canterbury to Santiago and back; around the North Sea - you get the picture.
My wife died recently, after a long and protracted illness, so I’m still forming ‘what to do next’ questions & exercises. We were together forty years.
I was a Royal Chorister during my school days and church music, choral, opera and classical music are part of my DNA. I dabbled in sport in my younger days and represented both county and university in a range of different sports. I’ve played against the English Rugby Team….and have representative honours overseas. I was also a Mountaineer,
I spent far too long in Education as an ‘advanced’ practitioner lecturing in such topics as biomechanics, sport psychology, coaching methodology, parasitology, research methodology, (yes, the boy’s got an ‘ology’) anatomy & physiology and apart from my academic qualifications, I hold over 34 NGBA’s.
I enjoy good foods and company that is both interesting and stretch the little grey cells. I connect with animals, enjoy nature & gardening, but I have a wide and eclectic range of other interests. I am most at home in shorts and a T-shirt, but on occasion can scrub up well. I should like to reconnect with the right person and share.
Outlook on Life: Life is something special. Our planet IS paradise and we are here for such a short time: Enjoy it and try to leave it a better place for having been here; we are all made from the periodic table plus a little magic.
Things I yet want to experience include swimming with Orca and getting back on the bike, but all are secondary to companionship in its spectrum of colours & experiences.
About his ideal match
Someone who is essentially kind and considerate and has hidden depths and personality. Someone who is basically honest and with a good sense of humour. Who is Happy to try and share new experiences, but that is a two-way street and I’m happy to learn. I would love to be introduced to new experiences be they physical or emotional. They probably enjoy some form of physical activity, not necessarily a sport; enjoy the outdoors/countryside as well as a good meal and can Dress up on occasions and go ‘posh’. You enjoy exploration and learning in areas that are yours, but may be happy to be inclusive. Eye colour is important to me, but a smoker is sadly a deal breaker.
