About him
How can I talk about myself without sounding pompous? - because I'm not. I am contented and relaxed. I like to know about things and have new ideas.I was an art teacher, now run U3A groups in philosophy and Latin. I am a loving person, ready to see the other person's point of view and like looking after people. I live in a small town surrounded by all sorts of things to be used one day. So I don't get on with people who need to have everything in order. I speak French fluently, have two French grandchildren and sing, as well as draw, paint, cook, used to make pottery and jewellery. I'd rather make things or repair them than buy new. I love language, read a great deal and write as much as I can. My health is good, apart from creaky joints, with the benefit of a heart bypass a few years ago. I don't read newspapers because they are so depressing and misleading, but I like New Scientist and Scientific American.

I would like to meet an intelligent lady who for preference listens to Radio 4, likes classical music, happy with herself, who takes care with her appearance and her surroundings, and is relaxed about things being in their place, not too worried about disorder. It would be good to visit places with her, like European cities I don't yet know and make discoveries together. I am not looking for someone to darn my socks, but I do appreciate being cared for, as I care for others. I don't want to divide loyalties with cats or dogs and I have no interest in sport.
