About her
Cultured lady - warm, tactile, considerate, easy going, financially self-sufficient - seeks similar qualities in a gentleman companion. Enjoys music, travel, fresh air, walking in the hills and along the coast, seeing the sites - museums, galleries, local colour, local food and drink, both at home and abroad.
I'm told I'm always cheerful - but I'm thoughtful, interested in my surroundings and how they got to be the way they are, and can be serious and sympathetic too. People seem to find me a good listener. They often also seem to think I'm younger than I am. Politically, I don't fit into any particular box, but I follow current affairs and care deeply about our world and its peoples.
I enjoy conversation, just as long as you don't want to talk about soap, celebrities, or reality TV. Yet I'm comfortable in a companionable quiet, and don't feel the need to jump in and fill a gap. My sense of humour is mischievous but not mean. I don't watch much TV, but when I do, it's news, BBC4 documentaries, or comedy such as HIGNFY.
Although I enjoy the outdoors, I'm equally happy swapping my walking boots for dainty city shoes and dressing up to go out, and I make a congenial companion to theatre, concert, opera, or film, or maybe simply spending time with friends. I'm actively engaged in local history, conservation, choral music, and in people based voluntary work - and I still have a foot in the "groves of Academe".
Life's one big adventure for me, and the glass is always on the way to being full. I laugh in adversity (you have been warned!) and I don't "sweat the small stuff". I come from a big family and value my friendships, so will respect the way you feel about yours. I'm also fairly self sufficient, so can respect your need for your own space too.

Of course it all depends on that indefinable thing we call chemistry, and I'm not expecting one night stands or a whirlwind romance. We'll know if we click, although it might take a few meetings to make sure.
Here are some things that might help. You'll be at home in museums, galleries, libraries, IT, in classical concerts, opera, and in the theatre, but you'll be practical and fun too. Hopefully you'll be as curious as I am about things and how they got to be the way they are, and you'll need to cope with my self-mocking sense of humour. You'll be loyal to your friends and family, as I am to mine. You're tactful and honest, and if there's something about me that makes you feel uncomfortable, then you'll have the courage to tell me.
It'll be good if you enjoy some of the same things I do, but it'll also be good if you need your own space sometimes.
