In Her Own Words

About her

Looking for someone who has a car and would like to eat out, go to concerts, theatres, watch good television - documentaries for example. Preferably not averse to smoking. I spend my life listening to radio 4 and classic FM, a reader too and like good comedy - the witty type rather than slapstick - e.g. QI

I trained as a secretary but hated it and then became a nurse and Midwife. I stopped working to have three chiodren and went back to work when the youngest started nursery school. After the second child was born we went to Rhodesia in 1959 and lived there through all the troubles. We had become supporters of Sir Edgar Whitehead who was voted out because he went too fast with integration for many of the whites and the indigenous abstained because he did not go quickly enough for them. We then suffered the Smith years and all the upheavals. I did all manner of jobs - market research interviewing, selling hardware, managed preparations for a 'Homes of the 70s Exhibition' which had to be abandoned due to the property slump due to the influence of the Pearce Commission on house prices. Eventually I returned to nursing and studied Community Nursing, then taught the subject to student nurses for 5 years before leaving to do a Psychology B Sc (Hons) and then a Masters in Educational Psychology

About her ideal match

Kind, considerate and compassionat person sho is able to manoevre a wheel chair or adjust to walking very slowly while accompanying me whith my tr-wheeler . . . Must have a good sense of humour, enjoy a drink occasionally, like the seaside and eating outside in sunny weather - fish and chips outside a pub in Poole for instantce.

I have had a husband who dies in 1986 of a brain tumour and a partner whose wife died two weeks later of a heart attack which brought us together. As a horticulturist and landscaper he was very different from my accountant husband and I was very differnt from his wife but we revelled in the joy of the change. That relationship lasted until he died at 91 from a heart attack and old age.

If you can adjust to someone who still yearns to be in Zimbabwe, loves the sun and swimming as well as the theatre, concerts, and wining and dining then you are just what I am looking for. Just take a chance and try it. I shall look forward to meeting you.
