Thank you for looking at my profile.
I'm happily divorced with two independent adult daughters, three young grandchildren and a cat. I'm fully retired now from being a special needs teacher. In the past, I have enjoyed travelling a lot, especially exploring places I haven't visited before and I lived abroad for a short time in the States and on mainland Europe. I am interested in looking at the architecture, nature, history and customs of a place rather than just sitting around on the beach or in a cafe and prefer coast and countryside to city life.
I love quizzes and am a regular pub/charity team member as well as having appeared on some television quiz programs (e.g. Eggheads,15 to 1) and I always have a book, puzzle or competition on the go. I also enjoy going to the cinema, theatre, concerts or talks/exhibitions. Since retiring, I have become more interested in trying to improve my large garden.
I have wide and varied interests such as ufology, cosmology, conspiracy theories and all things 'unknown'. I'm not religious at all but enjoy discussions around that subject. Until recently, I was heavily involved in local and national politics and was Treasurer and Branch Secretary of a local political group but am taking a break now. I'm quite to the right of centre.
I know I could be a great companion to the right person, I have a good sense of humour and fun and can hold an informed conversation on most subjects. Although I'm now approaching my 70s and recovering from knee replacement surgery ( I go swimming 3 times a week to build up strength and stamina!), I behave and think more like a younger person and am looking for someone with a similar outlook - Someone who is, above all things, honest and caring with an understanding of the importance of the commitments of family life, someone who has similar interests to mine but also can introduce me to new ones. He must be a non-smoker and be tolerant of animals and small children as I look after my grandchildren and daughter's dog occasionally.

He must be a non-smoker, solvent, someone who doesn't take drugs or drink too much or gamble excessively. I also don't like controlling men as I am very independent and I am not keen on beards or other facial hair! Someone who is on the right hand side of the political thought scale would suit me better as I have no time for the current ridiculous wokeness, which seems to pervade everything nowadays, although I am a keen environmentalist.
I have a cat, at present, but would love to meet a dog owner for forest, beach or countryside walks, but definitely an animal lover is essential. I'm looking for someone who is intelligent although that doesn't mean you had to have had a professional job in the past - but anyone who has basic spelling mistakes in their profile need not apply- just someone who is well informed on matters they want to discuss, be articulate, interesting and amusing company but, above all, be honest and trustworthy.
It would be lovely to find someone who is still committed to their own family even though they may live apart. I am a very hands on grandmother/pet sitter but do not let it infringe on my spare time excessively.
