I retired earlier this year but still do consultancy work with schools in both the UK and overseas...and any partner would obviously be welcome to join me on my travels .... that's a very unsubtle bribe ..but I can dangle the likes of Dubai, South America and Egypt..or on a bad day, Swindon -
I've moved into a stone cottage built circa 1850 which has many interesting characteristics ie different bits fall off / break / stop working / flood most weeks so it's an interesting challenge making it civilised - anyway it has original 19th century beams, original 19th century spiders and a log fire so I can put up with the other stuff and its coming on well, I even have a brand new kitchen..oh joy! - when abroad I seek out local art and so the walls are covered with amazing pictures and tapestries especially from Africa -
I'm keen on keeping in reasonable condition, go to the gym in an attempt to develop a torso like Daniel Craig’s, but with walking and cycling my main interests - used to run marathons ( no longer, my knees have said enough is enough ) so now focussing on long bike rides and have a dream of cycling around France or America - I'm aiming to do more ( non work ) travelling and that started with Antarctica earlier this year …still suffering from penguin overload
I love intelligent cinema, Shakespeare and have recently discovered the wonders of World music, especially African - accordingly I believe strongly there's no age limit on going along to gigs and festivals such as Womad and leaping around to the music ( although my children would not agree )

Being a fairly self contained and quiet person, I would be looking for someone with an ability to accept me as I am, irrespective of whether they are quiet or outgoing, that makes no difference - I value honesty and openness, warmth and closeness, both physical and spiritual and yet at the same time, a degree of independence and coupled to that, I feel that in addition to obviously having strong feelings, its vitally important to respect the other person in a relationship and for that respect to be mutual - its possible if not probable that I would drive you to distraction at times when I become introspective and quiet but those occasions are rare and a strategy of just ignoring me always works - however, I like to think and hope that I am by nature a considerate person aware of and willing to respond to a partners needs and feelings, physical, emotional and spiritual - I value intellect and intelligence especially if it means we can have a good argument { I am willing even at this early stage to accept that we'll end up agreeing that I'm wrong } - finally, I believe that the differences between men and women are to be celebrated and I would seek someone who is very feminine in their manner, their ways and their emotions.
