In His Own Words

About him

Could you put up with someone who loves Marmite, spread liberally on burnt toast and left in the fridge overnight? Or who leaves muddy socks in the bathroom after a run in the woods with an equally muddy dog? - or who has an annoying habit of singing out of tune when listening to music on headphones? - and loves Autumn more than any other season? - and who despite being independent believes life is better with the closeness and openness of someone special...

I once used to be a teacher but now work for a IT company that services schools with administration and curriculum software - I work all over the UK and am afraid that I have all the attributes of the company car, suit hanging in the back, Nolan Sisters CD { only kidding! } and several ancient Costa coffee cups - our software is also used abroad so I also work in various countries such as Dubai, Gibraltar, Nigeria, India and Cyprus - and I'm allowed to take a partner with me! .......( that's a very unsubtle bribe )

I've recently moved into a stone cottage built circa 1850 which has many interesting characteristics ie different bits fall off / break / stop working / flood most weeks so it's an interesting challenge making it civilised - anyway it has original 19th century beams, original 19th century spiders and a log fire so I can put up with the other stuff and its coming on well - when abroad I seek out local art and so the walls are covered with amazing pictures and tapestries especially from Africa -
I'm keen on keeping in reasonable condition, with running and cycling my main interests - so do marathons and long distance bike rides when possible, sometimes going abroad such as New York and Bordeaux for races and Cambodia for ridiculously long charity bike rides- I love intelligent cinema, Shakespeare and have recently discovered the wonders of World music, especially African - accordingly I believe strongly there's no age limit on going along to gigs and festivals such as Womad and leaping around ( although my children would not agree )

About his ideal match

Being a fairly self contained and quiet person, I would be looking for someone with an ability to accept me as I am, irrespective of whether they are quiet or outgoing, that makes no difference - I value honesty and openness, warmth and closeness, both physical and spiritual and yet at the same time, a degree of independence and coupled to that, I feel that in addition to obviously having strong feelings, its vitally important to respect the other person in a relationship and for that respect to be mutual - its possible if not probable that I would drive you to distraction at times when I become introspective and quiet but those occasions are rare and a strategy of just ignoring me always works - however, I like to think and hope that I am by nature a considerate person aware of and willing to respond to a partners needs and feelings - I value intellect and intelligence especially if it means we can have a good argument { I am willing even at this early stage to accept that we'll end up agreeing that I'm wrong } - finally, I believe that the differences between men and women are to be celebrated and I would seek someone who is very feminine in their manner, their ways and their emotions.
