In Her Own Words

About her

I'm witty, creative, smiley, well-educated; like to dream, love to think; can spend quite a bit of time with my head in the clouds but can drag myself down to earth when necessary.
What else? I adore my two granddaughters, read a lot, muse a lot, like all the usual things: good movies, plays, opera, ballet, good food, classical music, architecture, writing, reading, genealogy....and newly mown lawns, the aroma of baking and crisp linens (and cake of course).
Most of all I like a good conversation and a good laugh. I like to be busy but I can also veg out on the sofa - as I expect most people can.
I'm usually full of ideas: for changing the world, decorating the house; learning something new: at the moment it's ltalian ( it was also piano but I've finally given that up as a bad job having fretted over it for close on nine years.) One of my main hobbies is writing fiction and when I take a holiday it's to somewhere of cultural interest ( and hot - I don't do cold !).
Politically - well it's all rather worrying at the moment:. I'd vote for Angela Merkel as she looks as though she'd be safe with children but then she's never on my voting slip. And telly? Oh how I long for the climate when television was 'to inform, educate and entertain' A similar problem with libraries: folk nattering and kids chattering. Bring back the Silence rule I say - but I''m being out -voted by people who haven't come to the library to read or study or think. So now you know what annoys me!
It would be lovely to have someone I could be close to, have good conversations with, go on days out with; possibly holiday together. I'm warm, tactile and most of all alert - no shuffling in slippers or watching daytime telly with a plate of digestives in my house! Oh, and I don't do sport and, although people's dogs seem to like me I'm not so keen... So, outside if it's hot and at the movies if it's not!
Drop me a line and we'll take it from there.

About her ideal match

I'm hoping to meet someone who is well-educated, likes books; who is optimistic, organised, enjoys a good laugh and summer weather.Someone who is basically kind and thinks of others, who enjoys a good conversation and can tune in to other people. Someone with ideas and who can appreciate the funny side of life. I'm not looking for someone to be 'at my side' as it were 24/7 : i.e. I can shop for curtains or bananas without an in-depth conversation re the proposed purchase on the shop floor!
There are a couple of things I don't like in a man and apart from bad manners and yelling into your phone in public they're sartorial:I do like a well dressed man so I'm a bit put off by tee shirts and trainers.
I'd like to spend time with someone
like-minded, warm, compassionate and full of ways to change the world. I'm not a fan of middle of the road, conventional, just-to-be-on -the-safe-side philosophy so I'm seeking someone who is a bit of a free thinker. If that's you I'd love to hear from you. .....you're one in a million, but then so am I.
(One tiny thing, which has intrigued me about some of the guys posting on here: why do so many of you a) not post a photo or b) wear dark glasses in your photo ?? Either way we can't SEE you .... which means we won't be sending you messages!)
