About him
I am well educated and intelligent, kind and sincere and I'm probably a little old fashioned in taking time to do things well and keeping to high standards, but that is me. You are much more likely to find me with a book than a kindle for instance, in fact about 100% more likely. I am active and love travelling. I'm patient and value honesty and integrity above all else. My sense of humour is dry and spontaneous and there is a good dash of sarcasm in with the mix for those things that deserve it. It works best with someone who has a dry, quick-witted humour. I'm not selfish or possessive and I don't make demands on people ever.
I moved to Portugal in 2013 for a different type and style of life. I do speak some Portuguese but it is still developing. I am interested in history, travel, astronomy, publishing, the theatre, gardening, education, ancient Rome, walks in the country, reading, short city breaks, Monty Python, Private Eye magazine, museums, art galleries, geology, current affairs, radio 3 & 4, BBC world service.
I DON'T do TV, football, pop music, noisy pubs or nightclubs, celebrity anything whatever, fashion, shopping, beach holidays or basically anything that would appear in a red-top tabloid newspaper. (You might find me with a copy of New Scientist but don't count on it). I will go to the beach, but preferably with a geologist. I don't do religion at all, and I don't consider a mobile phone as an indispensable life accessory so you won't find one glued to my ear or stuck in my hand writing text.
If you have an original outlook on life and are looking for someone who is not afraid of being different, it might be worth getting in touch. We'll only know by making contact, exchanging a few letters and then meeting up to see if we get on.
About his ideal match
I 'm looking for well educated woman who wants a real lasting relationship and family and who is willing to put the effort in to make it work. She will need to appreciate classical music to some degree at least, otherwise we are unlikely to get on. Hopefully she will love it. Ideally she have interests and skills of her own some of which hopefully will match with mine. After all, I will want to take interest in what you do and be able to share some of the things we both enjoy. What matters most is your personality and your attitude to life. Honesty in essential as it forms the bedrock of trust in any good relationship.
